چکیده

Laboratory and pot culture experiments were conducted to assess the acute persistent toxicity of new molecular insecticides against notorious invasive pest maize, Spodoptera frugiperda during 2020- 2021 at Department Agricultural Entomology, Tamil Nadu University, Coimbatore. Results revealed that, LC50 value emamectin benzoate, chlorantraniliprole, spinetoram, flubendiamide novaluron 0.05, 4.08, 0.1, 85.89 0.91 ppm, respectively for second instar larvae 0.03, 5.63, 0.02, 162.99 0.99 ppm third fall armyworm. Among tested benzoate spinetoram showed high S. than other by registering a minimum value. But in studies, same less persistence on maize crop. Hence, like chlorantraniliprole need be recommended early stage crop period (within 20 days after sowing) viz., should middle (25 40 days) management so that residues may not accumulate harvested produce both stalk grain.

Cry1F Resistance in Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda: Single Gene versus Pyramided Bt Maize

Evolution of insect resistance to transgenic crops containing Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) genes is a serious threat to the sustainability of this technology. However, field resistance related to the reduced efficacy of Bt maize has not been documented in any lepidopteran pest in the mainland U.S. after 18 years of intensive Bt maize planting. Here we report compelling evidence of field resistan...

Investigating the Molecular Mechanisms of Organophosphate and Pyrethroid Resistance in the Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda

The fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda is an economically important pest of small grain crops that occurs in all maize growing regions of the Americas. The intensive use of chemical pesticides for its control has led to the selection of resistant populations, however, to date, the molecular mechanisms underlying resistance have not been characterised. In this study the mechanisms involved in t...

Natural Distribution of Parasitoids of Larvae of the Fall Armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, in Argentina

To develop a better understanding of the natural distribution of the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), and to update the knowledge of the incidence of its complex of parasitoids. S. frugiperda, samplings in whorl-stage corn were carried out in provinces of Argentina from 1999 to 2003. S. frugiperda larvae were collected from corn in localities of the provinc...
